Edge Spoke Gateway Horizontal Scaling
This document provides a brief overview of Aviatrix Edge Spoke Gateway horizontal scaling.
Edge Spoke Gateway horizontal scaling is supported only with the latest version of the Aviatrix Controller. |
Edge Spoke Gateway horizontal scaling provides you the flexibility to add or remove gateways to plan for capacity during peak times to ensure high availability and improve and maintain network stability and performance.
Horizontal scaling requires all Edge Spoke Gateways in an edge site to be deployed in active-active mode. A maximum of eight Edge Spoke Gateway instances are supported per site.
Edge Spoke Gateways can be scaled horizontally and peered to the Transit Gateway or Edge Transit Gateways across single or multiple clouds and regions. The Edge Spoke Gateways connects to the Transit Gateways and Edge Transit Gateways with active peering connections. Network traffic between the Transit Gateways and Edge Spoke Gateways or between Edge Transit Gateways and Edge Spoke Gateways is load balanced and forwarded across all active peering connections by using Equal Cost Multi Path (ECMP) routing.
The following figure shows multiple Edge Spoke Gateways deployed in the same edge site for horizontal scaling with multiple active-active high availability connections for multicloud to edge connectivity.
The following example shows an Edge configuration in CoPilot for horizontal scaling with Edge Spoke Gateway instances for the same edge site in active-active high availability mode .
When a high availability mode is not selected, Edge Spoke Gateways deployed in the same edge site default to active-active mode.
The following example shows an Edge configuration in CoPilot for horizontal scaling with Edge Spoke Gateway instances in active-active mode (no HA) for the same edge site.
