DNS Server Configuration for the Aviatrix CoPilot
This document provides guidance on configuring DNS servers used by the Aviatrix CoPilot.
Aviatrix CoPilot requires DNS resolution to support various internal operations, including access to APIs, third-party integrations, and connectivity checks. The DNS server configuration determines how CoPilot itself resolves domain names.
By default, CoPilot uses the Cloud VPC/VNet DNS server. This ensures that DNS resolution is reliable and integrated within the cloud infrastructure. However, you may optionally specify custom DNS servers for environments where DNS resolution must be routed through private or internal infrastructure.
Configure DNS Servers for CoPilot
To configure DNS servers for CoPilot:
-
Go to Settings > Configuration > General in the CoPilot UI.
-
Locate the DNS Servers for CoPilot tile.
Configuration Options
Cloud VPC/VNet DNS Server (Default)
This default option uses DNS servers configured through the VPC/VNet DHCP options. It is suitable for environments with unrestricted internet access and ensures CoPilot has consistent and reliable DNS resolution within the cloud infrastructure.
Custom DNS Servers
This option allows you to specify up to two custom DNS server IPv4 addresses. CoPilot will use the defined servers for all its internal hostname resolution tasks.
This option is useful for environments with internal DNS requirements or restrictions on public DNS usage.
This configuration applies only to CoPilot itself, not to Aviatrix Gateways or other components. |
DNS server entries must be provided in IPv4 format (for example, 10.10.10.10).
Changes to the DNS configuration take effect immediately upon saving.
