Creating a Kubernetes SmartGroup

You must onboard Kubernetes Clusters before creating Kubernetes SmartGroups.

You can create Kubernetes SmartGroups from two places:

  • Cloud Assets > Kubernetes Clusters tab

  • Groups > SmartGroups tab

After your AKS clusters are upgraded, pod names may alter slightly in CoPilot. Ensure that the Kubernetes SmartGroup is using the updated pod name, if the SmartGroup is used in a DCF rule.

Creating SmartGroups from Kubernetes Clusters tab

To create Kubernetes SmartGroups from the Kubernetes Clusters tab:

  1. After you have onboarded your discovered Kubernetes Clusters, click the vertical ellipsis icon 15 and select Create SmartGroup.

  2. In the Create SmartGroup from Cluster dialog, select one of the following to create a SmartGroup for:

    • Each Namespace (virtual cluster within a Kubernetes cluster)

    • Each Service across all Namespaces (each Pod grouping across all Namespaces)

  1. Select/enter the following depending on your previous selection:

    • Each Namespace: select one or more Namespaces.

    • Each Service across all Namespaces: select one or more Services.

  2. You can Preview the resources before saving.
