Roll Back Gateways
Overview
The gateway rollback replaces the current gateway instance with a new instance using the previous Controller software version, with the gateway base image aligned to that version. Sometimes, the gateway base image remains the same across software versions, but the gateway instance is still replaced even if the base image hasn’t changed. This rollback is required when the current gateway encounters software compatibility issues.
To roll back the gateway software to a previous version, please note the following information:
-
It is important to understand that Gateway software rollback not only reverts the gateway software but also changes the gateway image. It replaces the gateway with the previous controller software version and its corresponding gateway image.
-
Please be noted that rolling back software will result in temporary service disruption and may have potential impacts on your system and network.
-
If you have encountered issues or failures during the gateway rollback, it is strongly recommended to open a ticket with Aviatrix Support at https://support.aviatrix.com for assistance.
Please follow these guidelines for the gateway software rollback:
-
Be aware that gateway software rollbacks can cause brief disruptions because the gateway is replaced.
-
During the rollback process, the gateway image version may also change.
Steps to Roll Back a Gateway
To perform a gateway rollback, please follow these steps:
-
Go to CoPilot UI > Cloud Fabric > Gateways > Gateway Management.
-
From Gateway Rollback, select the gateways that you want to rollback. The system will automatically choose the compatible gateway image version based on the previous software version of the platform Controller.
-
Click Rollback and closely monitor the progress in the status window. The rollback process may take some time to complete.
-
After the rollback is finished, verify the gateway software version by reviewing the gateway information in the "Current Software Version" column.
The rollback operation does not guarantee that the gateway is restored to the exact same state as before, please perform the necessary tests to verify expected functionality. |
