Maintenance

This section provides the purpose, elements, and actions performed on the Maintenance pages.

Upgrade
Back Up & Restore

Purpose

The Upgrade page upgrades the Controller, installs security and software patches, and supports migrating data from an old CoPilot instance to the current CoPilot (including Migrate to Appliance v3 for AWS).

Elements

Controller: Section for Controller upgrade and patch management; Upgrade Controller with Current Version and Prepare For Upgrade; Install Patches with Install (Security Patches, Software Patches).
CoPilot: Migrate Data from Old CoPilot with Migrate; Migrate to Appliance v3 (AWS Only) with Migrate and View Progress.

Actions

View Upgrade Page

To view the upgrade page:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Upgrade.
The page appears with Controller (Upgrade Controller, Install Patches) and CoPilot (Migrate Data from Old CoPilot, Migrate to Appliance v3) sections.

The Upgrade page shows controller version and migration options.

Prepare For Controller Upgrade

To prepare for Controller upgrade:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Upgrade.
In Upgrade Controller, review Current Version and click Prepare For Upgrade.

The preparation process for Controller upgrade is initiated.

Install Patches

To install patches:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Upgrade.
In Install Patches, review Security Patches and Software Patches counts and click Install.

Available security and software patches are installed.

Migrate to Appliance v3 (AWS Only)

To migrate to Appliance v3 (AWS only):

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Upgrade.
In Migrate to Appliance v3 (AWS Only), click Migrate. Optionally, use View Progress to monitor the migration.

Data is migrated from the old CoPilot instance to the new CoPilot instance.

Migrate Data from Old CoPilot

To migrate data from an old CoPilot instance:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Upgrade.
In Migrate Data from Old CoPilot, click Migrate.

Data is migrated from the old CoPilot instance to the current CoPilot.

Purpose

The Back Up & Restore page allows you to configure automated backups (CoPilot configuration and CoPilot data), restore Controller and CoPilot configuration or data, and manage external storage for backups.

Elements

Back Up CoPilot Configuration: Enable automated CoPilot configuration backup to Controller every 15 minutes (Enable). Backed-up configuration includes NetFlow, Alert configuration, Performance Scaling, Topology, Gateways, Edge, Connectivity, Anomaly Detection, RBAC, Upgrade Group Data, and more.
Back Up CoPilot Data: Enable automated backup of CoPilot data indexes to the Controller backup S3 bucket (Enable; set frequency, time, and retention).
Restore Controller: Restore Controller Configuration from external storage (Restore).
Restore CoPilot Configuration: Restore CoPilot Configuration from backup (Restore; disabled when no backup exists).
Restore CoPilot Data: Restore CoPilot Data from external storage.
Manage CoPilot Backups: Manage button to manage backups.
Configure External Storage / Edit External Storage: Configure or edit external storage for backup and restore.

Actions

View Back Up & Restore

To view back up and restore options:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Back Up & Restore.
The page appears with Back Up (CoPilot Configuration, CoPilot Data), Restore (Controller, CoPilot Configuration, CoPilot Data), and Manage Backups / Configure External Storage sections.

The Back Up & Restore page shows all backup and restore options.

Enable Back Up CoPilot Configuration

To enable CoPilot configuration backup:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Back Up & Restore.
In Back Up CoPilot Configuration, click Enable. The first backup runs immediately; subsequent backups run every 15 minutes (incremental).

CoPilot configuration is backed up to the Controller.

Enable Back Up CoPilot Data

To enable CoPilot data backup:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Back Up & Restore.
In Back Up CoPilot Data, configure frequency, time, and retention (Controller S3 backup must exist). Click Enable or Setup.

CoPilot index data is backed up to the Controller S3 bucket.

Restore Controller

To restore Controller from backup:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Back Up & Restore.
In Restore Controller, click Restore to restore from the backup in external storage.

Controller Configuration is restored from the selected backup.

Restore CoPilot Configuration

To restore CoPilot configuration:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Back Up & Restore.
In Restore CoPilot Configuration, click Restore (uses most recent backup; requires configuration backup to be enabled first).

CoPilot Configuration is restored from backup.

Restore CoPilot Data

To restore CoPilot data:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Back Up & Restore.
Open the Restore CoPilot Data flow and select the backup from external storage to restore.

CoPilot Data is restored from the configured external storage.

Configure or Edit External Storage

To configure or edit external storage:

Go to Settings > Maintenance > Back Up & Restore.
In Configure External Storage or Edit External Storage, click Configure or open the edit flow and set storage settings.

External storage for backup and restore is configured or updated.
