Connectivity Components Overview

Aviatrix provides comprehensive connectivity solutions that enable secure, high-performance networking across cloud environments and on-premises data centers. This section covers the key connectivity components available in the Aviatrix platform.

Core Connectivity Components

Gateways

Aviatrix gateways are the fundamental building blocks for cloud connectivity. They provide:
  • Transit Gateways: Central hubs for connecting multiple VPCs/VNets and on-premises networks
  • Spoke Gateways: Connect individual VPCs/VNets to transit gateways
  • Edge Gateways: Extend Aviatrix connectivity to on-premises environments and branch locations
For more information on gateway deployment and management, see the Gateway guides.

Edge Connectivity

Edge components extend your cloud network to on-premises locations, data centers, and branch offices:
  • Edge Spoke: Provides connectivity from edge locations to your cloud infrastructure
  • Edge Transit: Enables transit routing capabilities at edge locations
Learn more about Edge deployment in the Edge Spoke Overview.

Site-to-Cloud (S2C) Connections

Site-to-Cloud connections enable secure IPsec VPN tunnels between:
  • Cloud networks and on-premises data centers
  • Cloud networks and branch offices
  • Cloud networks and third-party cloud providers
For advanced S2C configurations including NAT for overlapping IP addresses, see S2C NAT for Overlapping Networks.

Network Architecture

ActiveMesh

ActiveMesh is Aviatrix’s active-active architecture that provides:
  • High availability with automatic failover
  • Load balancing across multiple gateway paths
  • Optimized network performance
For design considerations, see ActiveMesh Design Notes.

High Availability

Aviatrix supports high availability configurations for all gateway types to ensure continuous connectivity. Learn more about Gateway HA management.
