Aviatrix Controller is the control plane of the Aviatrix platform. It centrally
orchestrates gateway provisioning, routing policy, and cloud account management
across your multicloud network.
The Controller provides a full REST API and a certified Terraform provider that
enable network and platform engineering teams to automate the deployment and
lifecycle management of Aviatrix Transit Gateways, Spoke Gateways, and Edge
Gateways. It maintains network state, drives gateway configuration, and
distributes policy to the data plane across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle
Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). All gateways provisioned by the Controller remain
within your own cloud accounts and network perimeter.
Aviatrix CoPilot
connects to the Controller to deliver operational visibility and day-2
management capabilities across your multicloud environment. The Controller
handles gateway provisioning and policy control;
CoPilot
surfaces the resulting network telemetry, topology, and health data. To use
CoPilot, you must have an operational Aviatrix Controller.
Controller User Interface
Aviatrix CoPilot is the primary web-based management interface for the Aviatrix
platform. Starting in Controller 10.1, the Controller also ships with a
Controller UI for administrative break-glass access when CoPilot is unavailable,
such as before CoPilot is deployed or during CoPilot downtime. For new
deployments, use Launch Aviatrix or Terraform to
deploy Controller and CoPilot together rather than the Controller UI.
The Controller UI supports the following administrative tasks:
- Deploying a new CoPilot instance
- Backing up and restoring the Controller
- Opening a remote support session
- Resetting your password
For Controller functionality not yet available in CoPilot, click Legacy
Controller UI to open the previous Controller UI at the /legacy/ path.
Aviatrix recommends performing configuration and monitoring tasks in CoPilot.
Use the legacy Controller UI only when CoPilot is unavailable or does not yet
support the task you need.
Controller Deployment Model
The Controller is deployed as a virtual appliance and is available on AWS,
Azure, GCP, and OCI marketplaces. For information about base image releases that

For AWS and Azure deployments, the Launch Aviatrix guided experience at
launch.aviatrix.com automates Controller and
CoPilot provisioning, IAM configuration, security group setup, and initial
platform integration. For Google Cloud and OCI, Terraform is
the recommended deployment method. Aviatrix publishes certified modules for all
supported cloud providers at the
Terraform Registry.

Controller Licensing and Trials
A valid license (customer ID) is required to activate Aviatrix Controller. You
obtain the customer ID by subscribing to the Aviatrix Enterprise Contract offer
in your cloud provider marketplace. See
