# Topology

> This section provides the purpose, elements, and actions performed on the Topology pages.

This section provides the purpose, elements, and actions performed on the **Topology** pages.

    ## Purpose

    The **Overview** page shows the entire network topology of the following across all onboarded cloud environments:

    * Transit Gateway VPCs/VNets
    * Spoke gateway VPC/VNets
    * Transit gateway and Spoke gateway subnets
    * Virtual Machines(VMs)
    * External Connections (S2C)

    ## Elements

    * **Topology canvas**: An interactive map that shows the logical and physical views of the Multi-Cloud Network Architecture (MCNA)
    * **Filter panel**: Filters logical and physical views on the topology canvas
      <Note>**Note**: Change the view from **Geo View** to **Network View** at the bottom-left of the UI to view the filter panel</Note>
      * **Modified View dropdown**: Changes the current view on the topology canvas to a previously saved view
      * **Save View button**: Saves the current topology view with applied filters for future reference
      * **Search box**: Searches for resources by name, ID, type, and so on
      * **Connection Latency**: Shows the average latency for the attachments that are part of this connection
      * **Resources**: Filters Aviatrix managed resources, unmanaged resources, and both the managed and unchanged resources on the topology canvas
      * **Cloud Regions/Sites**: Filters resources based on the CSP, regions, and edge sites
      * **Types dropdown**: Filters resources based on the VPC/VNets, subnets, gateways, VMs, and connections
      * **SmartGroups dropdown**:  Filters resources based on available SmartGroups
      * **Match Conditions**: Filters resources based on user-defined conditions

    * **Node details panel:** Displays the metadata of the selected node on the Topology canvas

      <Accordion title="Viewing Topology Overview">
        To view the topology overview, in Aviatrix CoPilot, click **Cloud Fabric** > **Topology** > **Overview**. The **Overview** page appears.

        The following parameters are available on the Details panel on the **Overview** page:

        ### Parameter Details

        | CoPilot Parameter Name | Description                                                                  |

        | Instance ID            | Unique identifier for the virtual machine instance.                          |
        | Name                   | Name of the virtual machine instance.                                        |
        | Public IP              | Public IP address assigned to the virtual machine instance.                  |
        | Private IP             | Private IP address assigned to the virtual machine instance.                 |
        | Public DNS Name        | Public DNS hostname for the virtual machine instance.                        |
        | Private DNS Name       | Private DNS hostname for the virtual machine instance.                       |
        | Launch Time            | Timestamp indicating when the virtual machine instance was launched.         |
        | Image ID               | Identifier of the machine image (AMI/VM image) used to launch the instance.  |
        | Instance Size          | Compute instance size or type (e.g., t3.medium, Standard\_D2s\_v3).          |
        | Cloud                  | Cloud provider where the virtual machine is deployed (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI). |
        | Account                | Cloud account name associated with the virtual machine.                      |
        | Region                 | Cloud region where the virtual machine is deployed.                          |
        | VPC/VNet               | VPC or VNet ID where the virtual machine resides.                            |
        | Subnet ID              | Subnet identifier where the virtual machine instance is located.             |
        | Tags                   | Key-value pairs of resource tags associated with the virtual machine.        |

  <Tab title="Builder">
    ## Purpose

    The **Builder** page builds and deploys Aviatrix gateways based on your design and build constructs plotted visually on a Topology map.

    ## Elements

    * **Builder canvas**: Shows the Select Cloud Region button and build progress visualisation canvas
    * **Select Cloud Region button**: Opens a pane to select cloud provider, account, and region to build gateways
    * **Add Transit button**: Opens a pane to input the Transit gateway details to build
    * **Add Spoke button**: Opens a pane to input the Spoke gateway details to build
    * **Deploy button**: Starts the deploy process for the built topology
    * **Generate Terraform Script button**: Generates a Terraform script to deploy the built topology
    * **Reset button**: Clears the current build on the Builder canvas

    ## Actions

    <Accordion title="Building Topology">
      To build a topology:

      1. In Aviatrix CoPilot, click **Cloud Fabric** > **Topology** > **Builder**. The **Topology: Builder** page appears.
      2. Click the **Select Cloud Region** button to open the **Select Cloud Region** pane.
      3. Select the cloud provider, account, and region to build the topology.
      4. Click **Save**.
      5. Click the **+ Transit** or **+ Spoke** button to add a Transit or Spoke gateway to the topology.
      6. Provide the information in the following Parameter Details section.
      7. Click **Save**.
      8. Click the **Deploy** button to start the deploy process for the topology.
      9. Click the **Generate Terraform Script** button to generate a Terraform script to deploy the topology.

      A notification appears confirming the deployment of the topology.

      ### Parameter Details

      | Cloud provider              | Selects the cloud provider for the Gateway deployment.           |
      | Account                     | Specifies the cloud account linked to the selected provider.     |
      | Region                      | Selects the region where the Gateway is deployed.                |
      | **+ Transit/+Spoke**        |                                                                  |
      | Transit Gateway VPC         | Selects or creates a VPC or VNet for the Gateway.                |
      | Gateway name                | Specifies the name of the Gateway.                               |
      | Gateway size                | Selects the instance size for the Gateway.                       |
      | High performance encryption | Enables or disables high performance encryption for the Gateway. |
      | Instance CIDR               | Defines the CIDR block for the Gateway instance.                 |
      | Transit peers               | Selects Transit Gateways for peering connections.                |

  <Tab title="Replay">
    ## Purpose

    The **Replay** page shows recent changes to network constructs (route, credential, and other metrics) over time. Use it to see what changed and when.

    For example, shortly after a problem occurs, and to inspect additions, modifications, and deletions in change sets recorded over the last month.

    ## Elements

    * **Topology Replay canvas**: Shows the changes to the network topology over a selected time period
    * **Changes Inspect pane**: Shows the name, start time, end time, network constructs associated, and type of each change within the selected time range
    * **Timeline slider**: Navigate through historical states and select a time range to view the network changes

    ## Actions

    <Accordion title="Viewing Replay">
      To view the recent changes to the network constructs:

      1. Go to **Cloud Fabric** > **Topology** > **Replay**.<br />The Replay page appears with a topology map, changes details pane, and time series panel; the most recent change set loads by default.
      2. To find changes: use **Expand** icons in the timeline slider to zoom into a time period, or drag the **time-window control lines** (blue lines) in the overview timeline to focus on a day or range.
      3. Click a **View** icon or blue box in the change inspect pane to load that change set onto the map and into the changes inspect pane.<br />Optionally, use **Search** in the changes details pane to find a change set by title or note.
      4. In the changes details pane, expand the tree by construct type to see what was added (green), modified (orange), or deleted (red).
      5. Click a construct on the map to bring its change details into focus.
      6. Use the eyeball icon to toggle between only changed data and all data for context.
      7. Optionally, click the red **Notes** icon to edit the change set **title** or add a **note**, then save; you can search by title or note later.
      8. Click **AUDIT** to open the Audit tab for the change set time period.<br />To delete a change set, click the red **X** on its blue box in the timeline slider.
