# Upgrade Gateways for the Latest Aviatrix Supported Images (AWS and Azure Only)

> Before upgrading your Controller and Gateways, it is highly recommended to check the Upgrade Overview.

Before upgrading your Controller and Gateways, it is highly recommended to check
the <a href={"/docs/enterprise/" + "10.1" +
"/guides/maintenance/upgrade-overview"}>Upgrade Overview</a>.

* It is important to upgrade the Controller first, ensuring the Controller has
been upgraded to the latest image. See <a href={"/docs/enterprise/" +
  "10.1" + "/guides/maintenance/controller-upgrade-latest-image"}>Upgrade
Your Controller to the Latest Aviatrix Supported Images (AWS and Azure
  Only)</a>
* Once the Controller upgrade is completed successfully, you can upgrade your
  Gateways to the latest image.

For the major upgrade paths, see <a href={"/docs/enterprise/" + "10.1" +

## Perform an Image Upgrade of all your Gateways to the Latest Aviatrix Supported Images

This section describes how to upgrade your gateways to the latest Aviatrix
supported images.

To perform a gateway image upgrade, follow these steps:

1. Go to *CoPilot UI > Cloud Fabric > Gateways > Gateway Management* to upgrade
your gateways. Alternatively, you can go to *CoPilot UI > Administration >
Upgrade* to use the upgrade plan and upgrade groups for bulk upgrade. See <a href={"/docs/enterprise/" + "10.1" +
   "/guides/maintenance/gateway-upgrade-groups"}>Upgrade Gateways in Groups</a>.

2. From *Image Upgrade*, select the gateways that you want to upgrade. The
system will automatically choose the compatible gateway image version based
on the current software version of the platform Controller.

3. Click *Image Upgrade* and closely monitor the progress in the status window.
The upgrade process may take a while to complete.

4. After the upgrade is finished, verify the gateway upgrade by reviewing the
gateway information in the *Current Image Version* column. Ensure that the
upgraded gateways display the expected image version. See
[Verify Gateway Upgrade Status](#verify-gateway-upgrade-status) for details.

<Note>
After the gateway upgrade, several Network Metrics Interfaces and Connection
Status Interfaces have been renamed. Therefore, it is necessary to reconfigure
the alerts on any of these renamed Network Metrics Interfaces and Connection
  Status Interfaces. See{" "}
  <a href={"/docs/enterprise/" + "10.1" + "/reference/release-notices/release-notes/copilot/index"}>Renamed Network Metrics Interfaces and Connection Status Interfaces</a>
  .

## Verify Gateway Upgrade Status

After you have completed the upgrade, you can:

1. Go to *CoPilot UI > Gateways > Gateway Management > Upgrade Controller* to
check the gateway upgrade status. Alternatively, you can go to *CoPilot UI >
Administration > Upgrade* to use the upgrade plan and upgrade groups for bulk
upgrade. Please note that the Upgrade Plan is a *Preview Feature*. See <a href={"/docs/enterprise/" + "10.1" +
   "/guides/maintenance/gateway-upgrade-groups"}>Upgrade Gateways in Groups</a>.
2. Look for the *Update Status* field.
   * If the *Update Status* displays "complete", it indicates that the gateway
upgrade has been successfully completed. Alternatively, you can check the
current version on the *Controller Upgrade* card.
   * If the *Update Status* shows any other status, it means that your gateway
     upgrade has failed.
3. Go to *CoPilot > Cloud Fabric > Gateway Management* to check the status of
   gateways.
4. Verify all gateways are up and the status is green.
5. Verify all tunnels are up and the status is green.
