# Setting up Accounts for Edge Platforms

Edge platform accounts determine the features and functions that are available
for creating and deploying a gateway on an

<a href={"/docs/enterprise/" + "10.1" + "/concepts-architectures/components/edge-gateways/edge-overview"}>edge platform</a>
. For instance, setting up a platform account for the Aviatrix Edge Platform
allows the Aviatrix Controller to register with the Aviatrix Edge infrastructure
for managing and onboarding edge devices and Edge gateways.

Before you can deploy an Aviatrix Edge Gateway, you must set up an account for
the edge platform where you want to deploy the gateway.

  For Self Managed platform, the default platform account, *edge\_admin*, is
  automatically created for deploying Aviatrix Edge Gateways in customer managed
  ESXi and KVM environments.

## Creating the Edge Platform Account

1. In CoPilot, go to **Cloud Fabric > Hybrid Cloud > Platforms** tab.
2. Click **+ Platform**.
3. Enter a name for the account. For example, *OnPremises*, *Equinix* or
   *Megaport*.
4. To set up an account for the Aviatrix Edge Platform, select **Aviatrix Edge**
   type.
5. To set up an account for a network service provider, select **Network Service
   Provider (NSP)** type.
   1. For Equinix Network Edge platform, from the dropdown menu select
      **Equinix**.
   2. For Megaport Virtual Edge platform, from the dropdown menu select
      **Megaport**.
6. Click **Connect**.
