# CoPilot Overview

> Overview of Aviatrix CoPilot capabilities, deployment model, and related product guides.

Aviatrix CoPilot is the primary management interface for the Aviatrix platform,
extending visibility into complex, multicloud networks managed by Aviatrix
Controller.

Aviatrix CoPilot provides an operational view of your multicloud network.
CoPilot helps enterprises implement cloud networking that embeds security into
their networks, with monitoring and diagnostic tools that support application
availability. CoPilot offers visibility into cloud networking costs, showing how
network resources are consumed by different business units or cost centers for
billing purposes.

Enterprise IT teams use CoPilot's dynamic topology mapping to maintain an
accurate topology of their multicloud networks, and FlowIQ to analyze network
traffic flows through heat maps and time series trend charts that pinpoint and
troubleshoot traffic anomalies. CoPilot uses network and security services
delivered by Aviatrix's multicloud network platform to provide enterprise cloud
network operations teams with familiar day-2 operational capabilities, such as
packet capture, trace route, and ping, built for multicloud network
environments.

## CoPilot Deployment Model

CoPilot is deployed as an all-in-one virtual appliance and is available on AWS,
Azure, GCP, and OCI marketplaces. For information about base image releases that

CoPilot works in tandem with Aviatrix Controller; to use CoPilot, you must have
an operational Aviatrix Controller. In the Controller, you set up user accounts
and the CoPilot service account with required permissions for CoPilot usage. See

Aviatrix Controller and CoPilot are not required to be collocated. It is
possible to run them in separate VPC/VNets or separate cloud providers (in
multicloud environments). If CoPilot is located in the same VPC/VNet as your
Controller, specifying a private IP can increase operational bandwidth and
potentially save on cost.

## New and Existing Deployments

For a new Aviatrix deployment, the
[Launch Aviatrix](https://launch.aviatrix.com) guided experience deploys
Controller and CoPilot together and directs you to the CoPilot login page when
deployment completes.

If you are upgrading an existing Controller that does not yet have CoPilot
deployed, the upgrade process requires you to deploy CoPilot before the upgrade
can proceed. If you already have CoPilot deployed, your existing CoPilot
instance continues to operate and connects to the upgraded Controller.

If your associated CoPilot instance does not meet the minimum supported size,
Aviatrix Controller displays the following warning:
