# Create a Kubernetes SmartGroup

> Create a Kubernetes SmartGroup

<Note>
  You must onboard Kubernetes Clusters before creating Kubernetes SmartGroups.
</Note>

You can create Kubernetes SmartGroups from two places:

* Cloud Assets > Kubernetes Clusters tab
* Groups > SmartGroups tab

<Note>
  After your AKS clusters are upgraded, pod names may alter slightly in CoPilot.
  Ensure that the Kubernetes SmartGroup is using the updated pod name, if the
  SmartGroup is used in a DCF rule.
</Note>

## Create SmartGroups from Kubernetes Clusters tab

To create Kubernetes SmartGroups from the Kubernetes Clusters tab:

1. After you have onboarded your discovered Kubernetes Clusters, click the
   vertical ellipsis icon <img src="https://mintcdn.com/aviatrix-14b37c43/Edj7hoOEnFtUHgGn/docs/cloud/images/threedot.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=Edj7hoOEnFtUHgGn&q=85&s=3a3ab4208305fbec7a6b980b7587419b" alt="threedot" width="44" height="66" data-path="docs/cloud/images/threedot.png" /> and select
   *Create SmartGroup*.
2. In the Create SmartGroup from Cluster dialog, select one of the following to
   create a SmartGroup for:

* Each Namespace (virtual cluster within a Kubernetes cluster)
* Each Service) across all Namespaces (each Pod grouping across all Namespaces)

3. Select/enter the following depending on your previous selection:
   * Each Namespace: select one or more Namespaces.
